This model appears to have been discussed before in 2017:
https://lore.kernel.org/linux-wireless/1195e649-c57f-1247-a0dc-2f0cc0732a00@gmail.com/
and I'm seeing the same issues: it does appear to work, though it seems
to not correctly do "g" or "n" speeds. It also shows very low antenna
gain compared to a built-in adapter.

I also note that this was added as a "known device" in commit
c14239f23adb80aa2532909e312986317ba3cd09, but that commit didn't add a
"tested" exception for it (which, given its poor performance seems
fine).

The out-of-tree driver appears to still be getting updates?
https://github.com/Mange/rtl8192eu-linux-driver/commits/realtek-4.4.x

Any pointers on what I can do to help improve support for this device?
(Or for the 8812AU, which seems to be what's used for nearly all of the
other top-selling USB wifi adapters.)

And on a related note, do you have any idea what would be needed to get
AP mode working for these drivers? It seems there's a firmware for it
(8192eu_ap_wowlan).

Thanks!

-Kees
