perf: Add APM X-Gene SoC Performance Monitoring Unit driver

In addition to the X-Gene ARM CPU performance monitoring unit (PMU), there
are PMU for the SoC system devices such as L3 cache(s), I/O bridge(s),
memory controller bridges and memory. These PMU devices are loosely
architected to follow the same model as the PMU for ARM cores.

+This is APM X-Gene SoC PMU (Performance Monitoring Unit) module.
+The following PMU devices are supported:

+The following section describes the SoC PMU DT node binding.

+Required properties:

We should really have this made common for system PMUs (e.g. librify
it). Every driver does something subtly different, and isn't kept in
sync with new core feature addition.

Even if you're happy to accept a request made with any event->cpu,
you'll need to forcefully override that and ensure that all events are
in the same percpu context.

See what we do in drivers/bus/arm-ccn.c.

I don't think this needs to be dynamic. See what we do in
drivers/bus/arm-cci.c with CCI_EXT_ATTR_ENTRY for a simple way of
initialising the attribute pointer array at compile time.

With that, you don't need any dynamic allocation or initialisation here.

I don't think there is, so long as events are all associated with the same CPU,
and hence the same ctx.

As I mentioned, add and del are the only users of this mask. Both of those are
only called with ctx->lock held, so I couldn't see how these could race.

Were you considering events in different cpu contexts racing?

It might be worth having something under Documentation/ for this, similarly to
what we do for CCN in Documentation/arm/CCN.txt.

How is the user expected to determine agent IDs? Is there a listing somewhere?
Does this change between reivisions? This may be worth documenting.

If they're just sharing the interrupt, why are they not separate nodes (and
drivers) which simply happen to share an interrupt?

Depending on my prior question, I'm not sure that's necessarily true. If
there's no actual shared SoC PMU logic as such, the names below for each
individual PMU seem fine.

these are all the PMUs in X-Gene SoCs. Also, we are using the same PMU

These are X-Gene PMU specific for monitoring performance of a specific
data path.
X-Gene PMUs have 2 registers capable of masking the Agents from which
the request come from. If the bit with the bit number corresponding to
the AgentID
is set, the event will be counted only if it is caused by a request
from that agent.
Each PMU has different set of Agents. By default, the event will be counted for
all agent requests.

I'll have it commented better for next revision of the patch.

Each of the SoC PMU has an agent ID list in our product User Manual
documentation.
An user is expected to refer to the list to determine the agent ID.
The agent ID list
per each PMU is different. Also we may change or add more agents to the list for
next generations of APM X-Gene. I think it would be too much to document it in
the Documentation/ folder.

Given that the IDs are so variable, you can simply defer to user manuals in the
documentation. However, there should definitely be documentation describing the
format of the config and config1 fields.

What exactly exists in that region? Are the shared registers just for handling
the shared interrupt, or are they used to handle other parts of the PMUs too?

By "programming model" I mean the way the kernel interacts with the device,
rather than the interface exposed to userspace. For example, does the index
affect which bits are used in the shared CSR region?

If it's only used for the name exposed to userspace, that's fine.

Otherwise, there may be subtle gotchas.

They are shared registers for handling the shared interrupt only,
indicating/masking source of the
shared interrupt.
