PROBLEM: assertion/crash in latest stable kernel
2.4.21 (inode.c)

DETAIL:
This server crashes under medium load running apache
(httpd). It crashes consistently since the
maxclients value wa increased to accomodate an
increased amount of traffic to the site. The kernel
was crashing in a kernel page fault so we decided to
ugprade to 2.4.21. After the upgrade the crash
occurs as before but with an assert in inode.c instead
of a kernel page fault.

keywords: kernel, assertion, inode.c, autofs, apache

VERSION
Linux version 2.4.21 (root@ahp1) (gcc version 2.96
20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-113)) #1 Wed Jul 9
07:09:36 MDT 2003

OOPS W/ TRACE
ksymoops 2.4.9 on i686 2.4.21. Options used
     -V (default)
     -k /proc/ksyms (default)
     -l /proc/modules (default)
     -o /lib/modules/2.4.21/ (default)
     -m /usr/src/linux/System.map (default)

Warning: You did not tell me where to find symbol
information. I will
assume that the log matches the kernel and modules
that are running
right now and I'll use the default options above for
symbol resolution.
If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the
log, you can get
more accurate output by telling me the kernel version
and where to find
map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the
options.
