Hi all,

Changes since next-20080811:

The arm-current tree gained a trivial whitespace conflict against Linus'
tree (unreported).

The ide tree gained a build fix patch.

The acpi tree gained a build fix patch.

The vfs tree gained 2 conflicts against the xfs tree and one against the
nfsd tree.

The ubifs tree gained a build failure which required a revert to a commit
(interaction with the vfs tree).

The ttydev tree gained 2 conflicts against Linus' tree and against the
usb.current tree and lost one against Linus' tree.

The creds tree gained a conflict against the vfs tree.

I have also applied the following patches for known problems:

Add cuImage.mpc866ads to the bootwrapper as a cuboot-8xx target
	xen-balloon: fix up sysfs issues
ath9k: work around gcc ICE again

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sfr/linux-next.git
(patches at
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/sfr/linux-next/). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" as mentioned in the FAQ on the wiki
(see below).

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64. After the
final fixups, it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig,
44x_defconfig and allyesconfig and i386, sparc and sparc64 defconfig.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 108 trees (counting Linus' and 14 trees of patches pending for
Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't, please do.

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Jan Dittmer for adding the linux-next tree to his build tests
at http://l4x.org/k/ , the guys at http://test.kernel.org/ and Randy
Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds.

There is a wiki covering stuff to do with linux-next at
http://linux.f-seidel.de/linux-next/pmwiki/ . Thanks to Frank Seidel.

Reboot and switch on debugging by either specifying slub_debug as a kernel
command line parameter or setting CONFIG_SLUB_DEBUG_ON. This looks like the
freelists are corrupted. Could be a use after free or something.

It seems the global overview of the various trees at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/kisskb/matrix/ is no longer updated?
The per-tree overviews are still up-to-date.

Hi all,

As the merge window is open, please do not add 2.6.37 material to your
linux-next included trees until after 2.6.36-rc1.

Changes since 20100811:

Linus' tree lost its build problems.

The arm tree lost its conflicts.

The cifs tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20100811.

The jdelvare-hwmon lost its conflict.

the device-mapper tree lost its conflict.

The mfd tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The trivial tree lost its conflict.

The tty tree lost its conflicts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the

After the
final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and
64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and allyesconfig (minus
CONFIG_PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES - this fails its final link) and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig. These builds also have
CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED, CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 169 trees (counting Linus' and 22 trees of patches pending
for Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).

Today's next failed(panic due to OOM) to boot on a power6 box.
SLQB is enabled with 64K page size.

INIT: version 2.86 booting
System Boot Control: Running /etc/init.d/boot
Mounting procfs at /proc done
Mounting sysfs at /sys done
Mounting debugfs at /sys/kernel/debug done
Remounting tmpfs at /dev done
Initializing /dev done
Mounting devpts at /dev/pts done
Starting udevd: done
Loading drivers, configuring devices: Kernel panic - not syncing: Out of memory and no killable processes...

Rebooting in 180 seconds..

Last successful kernel boot was next0806. Did not get
a chance to test kernels after 0806 as i was away from
office. Quick test with yesterday's next also showed
similar results (panic due to OOM)

.config and dmesg attached.

Thanks
-Sachin

Hi all,

News:

The git tree is now hosted at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git and the
patches are now at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/next/ .
There are symlinks from the old locations (so they will continue to work).

Changes since 20090811:

This tree fails to build for powerpc allyesconfig (due to a TOC overflow
problem in the final link).

The v4l-dvb tree lost its conflicts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the

After the
final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and
64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and allyesconfig (minus
CONFIG_PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES) and i386, sparc and sparc64 defconfig.
These builds also have CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED,
CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 140 trees (counting Linus' and 21 trees of patches pending for
Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
