System hanged for a kernel NULL pointer dereference in SLES8-UL1

The system (an IBM xSeries 440 4way xeon 2.4 MHz RAM 4 Gb) hanged whit 
the previus error. The machine continued to reply at ping requestes but 
no shell at all was accessible (the SSL connection also don't worked)... 
I restarted the machine (hard power reset) and the system seems to have 
no problem at all... but the server works as TSM server and runs the 
backup of VERY iportant data, so the maximun stability is absolutly 
necesary...

The are no apparent trigger to the error status...

The distro is a SLES8 powered by UnitedLinux 1.0... the only upgrade was 
to the kernel k_smp-2.4.19-340...
