I didn't think these patches would make it into a kernel tree, except experimental ones. For one, I don't think we know what's wrong with the nforce2's apic timer. And second, I don't need the disconnect patch, because I have verfied a BIOS update has fixed C1 disconnect completely for my board. (works on and off)
If anyone needs stability, they should try the C1 disconnect off patch, use athcool, or set it off in the bios (whatever works). As for me, I'd rather have it not default off because my board now works with it on and keeps my system cooler.

Isn't is possbile to find out which registers were altered with the new
bios? Ie. read out registers with out bios and then with new bios adn
then compare? Then we (well someone smarter than me :)) could make a
real fix for the nforce2-apic issue.

Yes, it is no good fix, but at least better than nothing...don't you agree?

Hi,
could it be that you took out /or forgot to insterst the work-around for
nforce2+apic? At least I did a test with cpu disconnect on and booted
kernel and it hang. (I also couldn't find the work-around in the
sources.) I remember an earlier mm kernel had that workaround inside.
bye,

The zfcp driver adds a __setup function and lots of idef MODULE code.
Please don't do this for new driver (zfcp is new in 2.6). the proper
module_param macros work for both modular and builtin use.
adding MODULE ifdefs is a lartable offense :)

They always have worked as modules, it fixes case when PCI driver tried
to overtake interfaces already controlled by generic IDE code.

You are talking about IDE as module not PCI IDE modules.

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.1/2.6.1-mm1/
- A big ALSA update.
- Added support for kgdb on the x86_64 platform. You'll need a couple of
patches to gdb-6.0 itself to use it properly. They may be found at
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/gdb/gdb-6.0/
- Dropped the remap_file_pages() and prefault work - it is suspected of
causing stability problems.
- The PCI IDE drivers should work as modules now.
- A significant update to the NFS client.
- A large s390 update. Various device drivers and IO layer changes there.
Note that the 's390' patches actually include significant core MM changes
in the area of pte writeback/invalidate, rmap tweaks, etc. Relevant
patches are:
s390-11-tlb-flush-optimisation.patch
s390-12-dirty-referenced-bits.patch

s390-14-rmap-optimisation.patch
s390-15-superfluous-flush_tlb_range-calls.patch
