I like a vidmode 3 which gives 28 lines on the screen instead
of the default vidmode 0 which only shows 24 linwa.  For the
vidmode action to be successful you must have answered Y to
"Video Mode Selection Support (VIDEO_SELECT) [Y/n/?]"
when you did your 'make config' and answered all the questions.
You can
      # vidmode bzImage 3      Patches bzImage to video mode 3
or add the kernal boot parameter
      vga=3                    Kernel option parameter sets video mode 3
to the kernal boot line as a kernel parameter.
Symptoms are, I get 28 lines on the screen as asked for, but the cursor
does not scroll when it reaches the bottom of the screen, rather, it
disappears below the bottom of the screen, and you can't see what you
are typing in.  Very annoying, as I find only vidmode 0 works for me,
and it gives a 24-line tiny screen.
