module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In
fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy
trick.

It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version
it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version.

bailearly should be an int here. It's part of some ugly debug code
where a value of 3 means bailout at point 3. Maybe we should just
remove it instead...

This should be int. Verbose can be set to 2 for extra verbosity.

Btw, these patches that touch a ton of drivers are the wrong idea.
If you ack any part of it, then get_maintainer.pl CCs you on every
single kernel patch until eventually you get old and die.

We recently made itpm a bool in linux-next and it broke the error
handling here. This patch also preserves the return codes from
probe_itpm() instead of always returning -ENODEV.

Yeah, it never worked, since you could only ever set it to 0 or 1:

        module_param(bailearly, bool, 0);

Again, I haven't made it more broken than it is already:

        module_param(verbose, bool, 0644);

I've split these two off into separate fixes. Thanks!

I didn't know that; get_maintainer.pl usually produces too much spew for
me anyway. It could use some smarts.

Cheers,
Rusty.

The changes below break compilation for omapdss and omapfb: dss_debug
and omapfb_debug are declared in dss.h and omapfb.h, and those
declarations are not changed, resulting in conflicting types error.

Perhaps extra care should be taken in cases where the variable in
question is not declared as static.

Yes, after the first few hours I got lazy. Obviously, linux-next
doesn't build with CONFIG_OMAP2_DSS_DEBUG_SUPPORT (or may not build OSS2
at all), so it didn't catch them either.

I've fixed it (probably tomorrow's linux-next), but hope that the
introduction of a 'bool' in that header doesn't break anything else.

Please post fix if it does. Though I think the new hotness is dev_debug
and dynamic debugging.

Thanks!
Rusty.

"bool" doesn't exist at this point, cfr.

Any chance this is going to be fixed before it's sucked in Linus' tree?

Of course, done (moved declaration and comment below #includes).
