Hi,

please consider applying the patches chained to this message.

The objective is to deal with the a large amount of dead links to
material that often comes handy in marvel.rst; and improve some details
along the way.

The most important change since v1 is the removal of "[PATCH 1/5] docs:
arm: marvell: turn the automatic links into labels" patch and replacing
the URLs inline instead. Detailed changelogs in individual patches.

Thank you
Lubo

Just remove these; there's good chance there wasn't anything useful
there anyway.

Marvell has an annoying habit of moving stuff around their web site
every full moon, and often just removing documents altogether.

At this point basically none but four of the links still works and even
those that work today weren't working for a long period of time
previously. That is a shame because (short of the product briefs) the
documents tend to be quite useful.

Let's replace them with known working versions of IA's Wayback Machine
links. That seems to be about the only way of getting a URL that's going
to work the next week.

So these URLs do still exist in the Wayback machine; the above is
https://web.archive.org/web/20180829171124/http://www.marvell.com/embedded-processors/armada-38x/
for example. If we delete the links, we make it harder for any
interested person to ever find them. Assuming that we want to keep
information about these product families in the documentation at all,
I'd think that we would want to have the online information as well. So
I'd replace these with wayback links, or else just leave them as they
are so that sufficiently motivated people can look them up themselves...

Make sense?

Thanks,

jon

This is already fixed in docs-next.

So I've commented on parts 1 and 5. If you send me versions of 2-4
based on docs-next, I'll apply them; for part 1, I'd like to see wayback
machine links or a good reason why we should just delete them even
though those links exist.

Thanks,

jon

The kirkwood processors are old, but they were used in NAS
devices. They tend to have a long life time, and people do put Debian
on them. Armada-38x is definitely still in use in NAS boxes.

If we can have working links, that would be great.
