Hi!

(Zwane, I saw you fixing a similar bug in xircom, so included
you in cc also. Maybe you have an idea what could I try first?)

This occured just after starting pcmcia, when booted with a
card already in slot and cable connected to it.
The traces didn't stop until i removed the card
(i tried to disconnect the cable first, which didn't help).

Bugger, this is due to yenta_probe_irq.

There really should be 'events' to handle unless...
Perhaps someone who knows yenta could best comment.

static unsigned int yenta_probe_irq(pci_socket_t *socket, u32 isa_irq_mask)
{
...
        /*
         * Probe for usable interrupts using the force
         * register to generate bogus card status events.
         */
        cb_writel(socket, CB_SOCKET_EVENT, -1);

static unsigned int yenta_events(pci_socket_t *socket)
{
...
        /* Clear interrupt status for the event */
        cb_event = cb_readl(socket, CB_SOCKET_EVENT); <-- cb_event = 0xffffffff?
        cb_writel(socket, CB_SOCKET_EVENT, cb_event);

I think what we're going to do there is to just remove the darn warning.
Only enable it when a special CONFIG_IRQ_DEBUG has been set.

So people can turn that on when they have specific problems. Yes, it will
get false positives, but it should enable us to diagnose the source of
irq-related lockups amongst the noise.

So let's leave things as they are at present, and when we're satisfied that
most drivers are doing mostly the right thing, go add the config option.

Umm, but this is yee standard old interrupt probing - calling
probe_irq_on() and causing interrupts to be generated.

This seems to be something that these IRQ changes completely missed;
interrupt probing does not register interrupt handlers, so "retval"
in handle_IRQ_event will always be zero, and we'll always produce
these complaints. I'm sure there's lots of other older drivers using
IRQ probing which are going to suffer in a similar way.
