The patch titled
Subject: m68k: reword ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER prompt and help text
has been added to the -mm mm-unstable branch. Its filename is
     m68k-reword-arch_force_max_order-prompt-and-help-text.patch

This patch will shortly appear at
     https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/25-new.git/tree/patches/m68k-reword-arch_force_max_order-prompt-and-help-text.patch

This patch will later appear in the mm-unstable branch at
    git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm

Before you just go and hit "reply", please:
   a) Consider who else should be cc'ed
   b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well
   c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a
reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's

*** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code ***

The -mm tree is included into linux-next via the mm-everything
branch at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm
and is updated there every 2-3 working days

Subject: m68k: reword ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER prompt and help text
Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2023 08:22:25 +0300

The prompt and help text of ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER are not even close to
describe this configuration option.

Update both to actually describe what this option does.

- The kernel memory allocator divides physically contiguous memory
- blocks into "zones", where each zone is a power of two number of
- pages. This option selects the largest power of two that the kernel
- keeps in the memory allocator. If you need to allocate very large
- blocks of physically contiguous memory, then you may need to
- increase this value.
+ The kernel page allocator limits the size of maximal physically
+ contiguous allocations. The limit is called MAX_ORDER and it
+ defines the maximal power of two of number of pages that can be
+ allocated as a single contiguous block. This option allows
+ overriding the default setting when ability to allocate very
+ large blocks of physically contiguous memory is required.

For systems that have holes in their physical address space this
value also defines the minimal size of the hole that allows
 	  freeing unused memory map.

+ Don't change if unsure.
