Hi Michael,
It looks like ipmitool itself does have support headers for IPMB, but we
don't have much work done on the IPMB bridge:

When you say that you need to "access" IPMB i'm a little confused as it's a
transport, not some source of information. Can you make it a little more
clear what you're trying to do?

The IPMB Bridge implementation has been under review here for a couple
months.
https://gerrit.openbmc-project.xyz/#/c/openbmc/ipmbbridge/+/11130/
We didn't get a lot of comments on it initially, so we had delayed
merging it. There were a couple known race conditions in it that
required some extensive rework, so the intention was to replace the
patchset with a "better" one. If there's interest in merging it sooner,
a code review on the patchset would go a long ways.
