FWIW, I'm open to any solution at this point, since I'd like to see this
regression fixed. (1) does sound better longer-term, but (3) looks pretty
much ready to do afaict.

FWIW, I'm open to any solution at this point, since I'd like to see this
regression fixed. (1) does sound better longer-term, but (3) looks pretty
much ready to do afaict.
