I found that the patch was causing I/O errors to be reported with one of
the LTP tests:
testcases/bin/growfiles -W gf15 -b -e 1 -u -r 1-49600 -I r -u -i 0 -L 120 Lgfile1
So I dropped it out pending a bit more work.
