Hi,

Here goes the pre8. I plan just one more -pre before starting the -rc
stage.

One might ask why 2.4.19 is taking so long to be released. The reason are
the IDE changes: They need to be widely tested, its _really_ critical
code.

Yep. Thats a silly little bug someone made.

And this one is brilliant. Whoever hacked the printk levels in this file
didn't even bother compiling them before submitting.

Fixed in 2.4.19pre8-ac1 when it appears (should be ifa_list).

Hi Marcelo,

I got the following compile error:

ld -m elf_i386 -r -o ASLX.o 8253xini.o 8253xnet.o 8253xsyn.o crc32.o

<--  snip  -->

It seems 8253xcfg.c was accidentially not included.

Oops. I probably forgot to send Marcelo the makefile tweak

Remove it from the makefile and it should all be happy

Andrea VM changes are touching performance and stability critical parts of
the code. I cannot simply merge of all them at one time.

What I'm doing is to merge each part separately (for example, 2.4.19 will
have the writeout scheduling changes) so they can be tested separately by
lots of people when final releases are done.

Also I'm trying to understand his changes. I'm not going to merge
senseless stuff.

The writeout scheduling changes were excellent.

Sorry for my ignorance Marcelo,

but why don't we see the "outstanding" VM fixes even if the -19 cycle is so
long, then?

So we see posts like "...hurray, the O(1)-scheduler is so much faster..." and
"...-jam6, too..." (including the spiltted vm33), etc.

All this numbers are known for months.

Do you think the pending VM stuff goes into -20, at least?

Thanks,
	Dieter
