Hi,

did you try the patches located at
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/ ?
Use the corresponding mainline kernel, for example if you want to use
3.18.13-rt10, download linux 3.18.13 (from torvald's repo for example)
and apply the rt patch on it .
Latest rt patches are for linux 3.18 and 4.0, so if you use the
correct version it should work just fine.

Everything is explained on the wiki,
Regards,
Romain

It appears you are applying the patch to an Android or other third-party
derivative of Linux, instead of Linux proper, or that either the kernel
or the patch you have fetched is corrupt. Try re-fetching everything and
try again. This sequence works for me:

   cd
   mkdir junk
   cd junk
   wget -q ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/linux-3.18.11.tar.xz
   wget -q ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/3.18/patch-3.18.13-rt10.patch.xz
   tar xf l*xz
   cd linux*11
   unxz <../pat*xz | patch -p1

There are some (annoying) offset errors, but no fuzzies or rejects like you have
been seeing.

Joe

You are trying to apply a tarball of patches instead of a single
combined patch. Use patch-3.18.13-rt10.gz instead.

It looks like this is a proxy related problem....

using wget I am unable to use ftp://, but http:// is downloading,
however this does not work with the files retrieved.

can you give me working md5sum of files downloaded ?

Steph

|Subject: [PATCH] Revert "rwsem-rt: Do not allow readers to nest"
|
|This behaviour is required by cpufreq and its logic is "okay": It does a
|read_lock followed by a try_read_lock.
|Lockdep warns if one try a read_lock twice in -RT and vanilla so it
|should be good. We still only allow multiple readers as long as it is in
|the same process.

Ok. This is the last attempt to help you. I told you before, that:

https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/3.18/patch-3.18.13-rt10.patch.gz

This file can be applied with "patch -p1" after decompression.

The tarball, which you are trying to use contains a series of patches
and CANNOT be applied with patch.

Thanks,

Yes, I tried using this patch too. And the kernel was downloaded here :
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/linux-3.18.13.tar.xz

note: using ftp://ftp.kernel.org does not reply

Ingo,

Do you keep the RT patch as one slab or is it a series of patches
(presumably managed by quilt)?

If the latter, could you make a break out available, much as Andrew does
for the mm kernels?

This would make it much easier to isolate the various "neat" things and,
possibly, send them on to Andrew/ Linus or where ever.
