As the engineer said it has been released, it does make sense to move to it.

P8.4 is not yet released. Issues mentioned in the community (https://community.freescale.com/thread/388119)
are addressed in p8.3.

The imx-gpu-viv commit had some notes on finding the details of the commit. The notes were hard to follow, so I will be updating the patch:

That must have been a typo from your colleague since he said p8.4.

Anyway, I just tried the p8.3 and confirm and the problem is gone.
