Hi,
I just compiled my first Kernel from linus' tree and saw a warning in "sound/soc/codecs/wm8958-dsp2.c".
I think a found a bug, but I am not sure. And I don`t want to waste the Kernel-dev's time on the lkml. 
In function wm8958_dsp2_fw(), at line 64, there is an uninitialized variable used.

I made several small fixes for warnings and added some #ifdef CONFIG_BLA when code wasnt used. Are those changes welcome on the LKML?

Hi,

I wrote a commit message beginning with a hash (#) character, like this: 'git commit -m "#ifdef ...." '

Everything went okay when committing, but then I tried 'git commit -amend' and without editing the commit message I was told I had an empty commit message.

Is this a problem with my text editor (vim 7.2) or git itself? (git version 1.7.2.2 under RedHat 5.8) Or something I'm not supposed to do ;-) ?

When truncate files and free blocks, the following codes make me puzzled:

I notice that ext4_forget mainly do two things:
    a)  call jbd2_journa_forget to forget the modification of some buffer head
    b)  or deal with the revoke issue
however, if we are freeing data blocks && ext4_forget get into branch a),
tbh is not the buffer_head which journal took care of in ext4_write_begin,
so i'm puzzled with this.

Could anyone explain it to me? Thanks.

Assuming vmscan is doing its job to steal the last page from an
inode's namespace, so:

shrink_page_list -> remove_mapping -> __remove_from_page_cache:

The root cause of this problem is that nrpages is accessed w/o holding
mapping->page_tree. The fix is also easy, just grab ->tree_lock inside
truncate_inode_pages_range:

 Hi,
      Im using 2.4.19-rmk7-pxa1, on a pxa255. Recently I mounted jffs2 
as rootfs. While doing this the conventional way, I found that
it was being mounted readonly. Since I'm using M28W640 (ST flash) which 
needs to be unlocked upon every reboot, I thought the readonly
was because of this locking thing. So, I integrated the flash_unlock 
code into the mtd subsystem, but I still got the readonly mount.
After digging into init/do_mounts.c , I found  root_mountflags was by 
default readonly, and is sent to mount_block_root("/dev/root", 
root_mountflags);  only to be later reassigned somewhere in fs/super.c ! 
(s->s_flags = flags;)

The following addition to do_mounts.c , did the trick.

+ root_mountflags &= ~MS_RDONLY;
   mount_block_root("/dev/root", root_mountflags);

Now jffs2 mounts nice and clean, with readwrite !

I know you guys have dropped support for 2.4.x, but just for 
clarification, might even help several others struggling to get jffs2 
working as rootfs :)

I wasn't enable to get poll descriptors for a sequencer opened for
output only,
so I checked alsa-lib/seq/seq.c and found on line 320 in function
snd_seq_poll_descriptors:

Shouldn't it read: assert(seq->streams & SND_SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT); ?

I have an 1Ghz athlon cpu with a VIA KT133 on a gigabyte GA-7ZX
