ACPI vs DT at runtime

Isn't this a matter of ensuring backward compatibility for device
tree support in the kernel? This topic has already been discussed and
agreed upon at the minisummit.

Also I think that most of the churn was due to the fact that device tree
was new in linux-arm. My guess is that something similar could easily
happen to acpi support for linux-arm too during the first couple of
years of development.

What systems? You haven't named any.
Your basic argument is: "I know things you don't know, trust me".
I don't think that is good enough.

No. Most likely they are going to be both wrong, except that DTB can
be fixed.
In my x86 years I have seen many broken ACPI tables that only work on
Windows, because that's the only OS they were tested with.

I would be careful making statements like that: many high profile people
risked similar predictions in the past about the success of a technology
or the other and they failed spectacularly.
